Cruising from Vancouver? Here is what you need to know

From May to October Vancouver welcomes almost one million passengers from 14 cruise lines, most of them serving Alaska cruise market.

In 2018 we are expecting 32 different vessels visiting Canada Place cruise terminal at the Port of Vancouver. There will be days at the Cruise Terminal when three large vessels will be docked, meaning there will be 9,000 passengers trying to find their way around our beautiful city.

If your cruise ship docks in Vancouver, it is very important to plan ahead of time.

Vancouver Cruise Terminal is one of the most convenient and beautiful in the world. Located at Canada Place, in downtown Vancouver, you can walk to most of the hotels.

Transportation:

From Vancouver Cruise Shop Terminal to the Airport:

Walk to Waterfront Terminal Station (approximately 5 minutes) and board "Canada Line" to the airport. Be aware that Canada Line goes in two directions, take the train where it is written “YVR -Airport”.

It takes 25 -30 minutes to get to the airport.

How to buy tickets:

You can buy tickets at the ticket machines located at Waterfront Station. It will cost you $4.10 if you are buying one single ticket with cash or credit card, or $3.25 in case you have a “compass card”.

People over 65 years old pay $2.80

From the Airport to Vancouver Cruise Terminal:

Follow signs to “Ground Transportation / Skytrain”. Buy your tickets at the ticket machines (located just before the train platform). There is no way to “get lost” as there is only one line serving the airport. Disembark at “Waterfront Station”, the terminal station.

When you disembark at Waterfront Station, turn right at the sidewalk and keep walking. In approximately 5 minutes you will be at Canada Place where your vessel will be waiting for you.

From 9am to 1pm you will see some people wearing black pants (of black shorts) with a blue shirt where it’s written “Tourism Vancouver”. These are the friendliest people you may find:They are volunteers for Tourism Vancouver, the official Tourism Office of the city.

Tourism Vancouver volunteers will handle you free maps, directions for attractions, post office, currency exchange, restaurants, etc. They are local people who know the city as the palm of their hands and they are eager to make your stay in Vancouver a very pleasant experience.

Vancouver Visitor Centre is located on 200 Burrard Street, less than 2 minutes walking from the cruise ship terminal.

Visiting Vancouver Best Attractions:

In case you have just a couple of hours in Vancouver before embarking / disembarking on a cruise ship, it might be convenient to hire our team to be waiting for you before going on a private sightseeing tour. This is the most convenient way to save time and get to know Vancouver in a "fast pace".

If you have just a few hours in Vancouver before / after cruising we can:

• Pick you up at YVR (Vancouver International Airport) to go on a private tour along Vancouver most scenic places before dropping you off inside Vancouver Cruise Ship Terminal (we hold a “clearance” authorization from Port Vancouver to drop-off and wait our clients there).

• Pick you up inside the cruise terminal and go on a sightseeing tour before dropping you off at Vancouver International Airport.

If you are staying in Vancouver for a few days:

In case you are staying in Vancouver for a few days, congratulations, this is the best possible decision! We recommend at least four full days to properly "get a taste" of our beautiful city.
